Excellent profile interview of an real Life Coach and how we started, how his coaching business works, and how he coaches. I really enjoyed listening and learning from this coaching interview which give amazing insight into an established coach and how he works coaching.
I would like to hear more of interviews in the same style as this with other real coaches.

I listened to this video twice… I was inspired by Jeff Klubeck with his energy and enthusiasm; I can feel his excitement in responding to Jeff Sooey’s questions; Jeff K. provided a great deal of positive information and insights regarding the coaching principles; I also gained knowledge on what to expect as an Accountability Coach based on his outcomes from coaching his clients. He mentioned the structure and components of Accountability coaching; and that no matter how powerful strategies are; if they are not being executed and put to work; it’s useless. Jeff K. proved his point in making things happen for himself and his coaching clients. I sort of related to his thoughts that although he has been coaching for 11 years; with the Right Coaching Principles and Technology; merged with his varied background in teaching, human resources, communications, public speaking and entrepreneurial skills; that he would be Unstopable and that he got it made having the powerful coaching skills. The straw sitting in the glass that serves as the Conduit; never heard of this analogy before, and I think it’s a great analogy to learn from. Lastly, he said there’s no such thing as Failure, no such thing as Losing; and that you just successfully find out what to do in order to win. I agree with this to certain extent…If we’re referring to Life in general, mistakes and failures are bound to happen; most especially if no one is there to watch you. We win some, we lose some; and we learn from our failures and mistakes and poor decisions we make in our lives. I often say Been there, done that; so better not do it; or else mistakes will happen. Some People have the tendency to do it anyway; they rather experience the pain of Failure and Losing; rather than to listen and be mentored; but then they realize the consequence towards the end. as i seat here trying to response to this video, my blood boils with aspiration to get this coaching business out of my head and on the ground running…
as my wife desrcibes me when I am full of passion and drive about something I get explosive, she knows when I got a niche or scratch about something, i get to burn her ear off with what we could do as a coach…
after my third time around listening to this case study and how it was constructed I could not help but to realize how much it all hit home, there is no excuse on why we should do do this, there is fire in my gut, there is a new swagger is my walk and talk, my pupils are dialated for christ sake, i could go on and own but i see you provide us with the tools we have to have the passion…

I just found you online and I thank God that I did! Being a life caoach is soething that I was born to do and did not know that such a profession existed. My friends always tells e that I should be a motivational speaker but never knew that I can get paid doing it.
My question is-Does one have to be formally trained in order to practice?
Would your online training be enough?
YES. But understand that ongoing training and learning and growth is part of what every successful coach does on a never-ending basis… the key is not to expect to be perfect BEFORE you get started. that’s why the Quickstart Coaching Code program is only 30 days. It’s not because you don’t NEED anything else. It’s because you don’t need anything else to GET STARTED. Starting is HARD, but once you’re started, even if you’re not the best coach in the world (yet) you’ll be on your way to your destiny, and getting better all the time. However, if you don’t GET STARTED then you’ll NEVER be the great coach that you could be, no matter how much training you get.
I also found you on the internet and i am so so happy that i did. My only question is how do you know where to begin with and what questions to ask a client during a session? Is there a template or a formula? How do u know what to talk about during the session and even for the intake interview. Where could i find this information? I believe that i will be a great life coach and i dont want to be one of the many that never begin on this wonderful journey because i dont know where to begin.

Those questions are answered in the Quickstart Program, but here’s a little preview / overview of what you need to do with every client you talk to:
During any session with a client or prospect, you need to ask (and get answers to) these three questions:
1. What do you want?
2. What prevents you from getting it?
3. What do you need to do to change it? / What needs to happen for it to change?
The last question is one that you client may not be able to completely answer, but it’s a good start to the detective work that you need to do. Ultimately ANY of these questions may be ones that your client has trouble answering, which is why they are working with you, the coach. Your job is to talk to them about it in such a way where you see the patterns, and the answers arise. Then, you hold them accountable for following through on the answers to #3.
I like the way to inspire people to coach!
I really enjoyed the coaching call. I can tell through his voice how passionate he is about being a coach and his coaching business. I was interested to learn more about the Strategy and Accountability training that he went through. As a new coach and just started the 30 day quick start program. I am always thinkng about how I can better myself as a coach in the coming months. Any info on those trainings would be great and when is a great time for new coaches to start those trainings.
Master Coach University’s Fall Semester registration period closed just a month ago. However we will be opening up registration again sometime in the future.

Liked the enthusiasm and feel Jeff was very credible. He also is a communications professor who teaches public speaking and had consulting contacts going into corporate (more lucrative) coaching, so he did have some strong advantages as he became a business coach. I do feel inspired, but also realistic that his story doesn’t necessarily apply to many average would-be coaches.
Thank you for inviting me to listen to Jeff’s coaching experience. The greatest impact Jeff had on me today was when he said that, “Failure means that we must search to find a much better way to become winners.” I wish Jeff K. continued success in his career and look forward to working with him.

I’m curious about which part you feel doesn’t apply to many would-be coaches? If you’re talking about the particulars of Jeff’s skills, situation, experience, and position, I would agree… much of that probably doesn’t apply to many (if not most) new coaches.
However, if you focus on that, you miss the point of the case study. The point Jeff made was that if you follow through on your own commitment, you’ll have the power to create the results you desire. That ABSOLUTELY applies to EVERY would-be coach watching.
The only other important point came as Jeff shared was how he integrated his skills and past experiences into his new coaching practice. If you look at that as a command to ‘be like Jeff’, then, again, you miss the point. The point is for YOU to clarify YOUR skills and past experience, and then to integrate YOUR SKILLS into your own personalized coaching business plan. This point also ABSOLUTELY applies to EVERY would-be coaching watching (unless they’re still in diapers). EVERYONE has their own special skills and experience in life, business, relationships, health, fitness, finances, etc. Some of these skills may not matter to a future coaching business, but some of them will (even if they’re different from Jeff’s particular skills).
I didn’t have Jeff’s skills when I started my coaching business, but I got 25 new clients in the first 6 months in business. I know plenty of other coaches that are doing better than me that didn’t have my skills (or Jeff’s skills) when they started.
The days of the cookie cutter “I succeeded, so just blindly follow my little blueprint and you won’t have to think” are long gone. You have to think for yourself and find your own strengths. There’s some value in comparing yourself with others, but only as one of many reference points… after that, you’ve got to look at yourself and charge forward with what you’ve got.
My bet is that you, and most ‘would-be coaches’ have what it takes. The key is recognizing it within yourself and acting upon it.

Hi. Wow. What an informative video. And inspiring. Wow. I have always loved the idea of accountability. I had no idea that there were accountability coaches. Perhaps this is my specialty. Also, I loved the straw analogy. Can I use it in my practice?

Hi Jeff. Thoroughly enjoyed the interview. My challenge as a new coach is, will I have enough content, enough information to share. When I coach one of my pro bonos I feel elated when they have a breakthrough. Then later the self doubt sets in again.It was reassuring to hear that Jeff used to feel the same and managed to breakthrough that to build his confidence. Now the constant recognition he receives from his clients has eliminated that for him. I look forward to the day when I can say the same thing.
Content is an important aspect of what a coach can provide. To build your content…
>>Read books (especially the ones that help you get the right info for your current clients)
>>Write short, one page ‘how to’ articles that your clients need.
>>Attend trainings and do joint ventures with training companies that work with your niche.
>>Research as much as you need to stay at least one step ahead of your clients
Once you’ve done these things for a while, you’ll find that you almost always have ‘the answer’ for your clients. Once you’re at that point…
>>Start building trainings and group programs for your clients
>>Consider compiling what you know into a product for your clients
>>Begin writing a weekly blog post
This second stage is when you’re content really helps grow your business and pay off for you.

I’ve been through therapy, and challenging beliefs… but to have a tougher coach approach to it, not letting you get away with your excuses… That’s new! Powerful 🙂
Loved the video and learned a lot. It makes me very excited because I help a lot of people but I want to learn and do more I have been through therapy and I know now that this was always what I was supposed to do. Wow Awesome
